Turvey Allotments

About the Land

Beautiful tortoishell butterfly landed on our plot during the month of April 2010.

The land that the allotments are on was originally pastures for grazing animals for over 40 years. Subsequently there may have been crops sown. Now it is being farmed by an army of allotmenteers! The area is rich in flora and fauna and a large area around the allotments, paticularly the Rogerstown Estuary is a focus for conservation. We encourage allotment holders to plant some flowers on their plot to encourage and support the biodiversity of this beautiful area.

The Allotment Community

It's all about having fun too. Tending to the crops during July, ensuring those potatoes have no signs of blight.

If you are looking for some help, resources, items or have an abundance of vegetables and wish to advertise, or if you have some tips to share, interesting articles or photos of your plot on Turvey Allotments, please email us and we will include your details on this site.

Happy growing and looking forward to a great harvest!
