Turvey Allotments are part of the HSE Sun Smart sunscreen dispenser pilot. In Ireland skin cancer is the most common form of cancer with over 11000 cases diagnosed every year. Protecting your skin from the sun whether at home or abroad can reduce your risk of skin cancer.
Be Sun Smart when you're visiting your plot and reduce your risk of developing skin cancer by availing of sunscreen. Sunscreen dispensers are now available at the middle pedestrian gate and at the communal area beside Jimmy Johnson’s plot.
And remember the 5s of being SunSmart:
slip on clothing that covers skin
slop on sunscreen om exposed areas
slap on a wide brimmed hat
seek shade between 11am and 3pm
slide on the sunglasses!
